Gators Swim Team
Gators divides team swimmers into three graduated, integrated training/practice groups. Groups range
in ability from novice to elite. Each swimmer is placed in a group by a Gators coach based on his or her current swimming ability and age. Within each group, coaches focus on helping swimmers achieve skill-appropriate goals so each swimmer is able to grow and progress at an individual pace.
Team Fees
Team fees are due by first day of each month during the swim season.
They are set by the club's Board of Directors at the beginning of each
season. Fees vary based swim group and are payable by check or
credit card. Automatic credit card billing and multiple-swimmer
discounts are available.
USA Swimming
Each Gators team swimmer must be a member
of USA Swimming. This requires an annual or seasonal registration
with USA Swimming. Swimmers who do not have current USA Swimming
memberships complete USA Swimming registrations at the time they
register to swim with Gators. USA Swimming provides accident
insurance for each member while he or she participates in Gators
practices and swim meets. Each member also receives a membership card
that lists his or her athlete tracking number which can be used on
the
USA Swimming website to track the swimmer’s race times and see his or her national rankings. Membership in USA Swimming automatically provides the swimmer with membership in Indiana Swimming, Inc., which is Indiana’s chapter of USA Swimming.

Bronze Group
Our Bronze group is the first step in the development of the competitive swimmer. This group consists of swimmers age 9 and under (with exceptions for beginners at
other ages). Swimmers at this level focus on learning turns, starts, and technique for all four swim strokes.
Practice Schedule
Members of the Bronze
Group practice three times each week.
Depending on the sub-group that they are in,
swimmers practice 5:30 - 6:30 pm or
6:30 - 7:30
pm. During the summer season, Bronze swimmers
also have an opportunity to swim outdoors at the Greenwood City
Pool one morning each week.
Monthly Team Fee: $44

Silver Group
Our Silver group is the second step in
our age group program. This group consists of swimmers age 12 and under. These swimmers continue to focus on improving turns, starts, and technique for all four strokes.
They also
learn to use the pace clock and build endurance. Improvement of technique and
the development of competitive skills are new focuses for
swimmers at this level. The Silver group is comprised of 2 sub-groups:
A novice group and an advanced group.
Practice Schedule
Swimmers in this group practice 4 or
5 days each week,
5:30 - 7:00 pm. During the summer season, Silver swimmers
have optional morning practices outdoors at Greenwood City Pool.
Monthly Team Fee: $51

Gold Group
Our Gold group is our elite swim
group. This group consists primarily of swimmers age 12 and up.
Often this group is comprised of middle-school and high-school students. Swimmers in this group continue to work on basics like skill development and technique, but they
now add add a conditioning and strength-building element to their practices
with dry-land workouts. Members of this group continue to
increase endurance, begin to establish personal swim times, and
work to increase swim speed.
Practice Schedule
Gold swimmers 5 days a week, 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Additional
daily morning practices are added during the summer season.
Monthly Team Fee: $56

Swim Suits and Equipment
Team members are permitted to wear any appropriate one-piece swim suit or jammer during
team practices. When competing in swim meets, swimmers are
required to wear the Gators team suit and swim cap. Swimmers will
receive a cap at registration. Suits and additional caps are
offered for purchase near the beginning of the swim season.
Each swimmer should bring a towel,
goggles, and a water bottle to every practice. On days when
dry-land training or activities are planned, shorts, T-shirts and
athletic shoes may be required.
The natatorium is equipped with fins, kick boards, swim paddles, and other gear used during practices. Because Gold swimmers,
however, use these basic training items frequently, coaches may ask them to purchase their own set of practice equipment. Please label all personal items.
