Swim Meets
Gators swimmers are strongly
encouraged, but not required, to compete in swim meets.
Competition is the best way to establish personal swim
times and grow as a competitive swimmer.
Competition also allows each swimmer to strive for
self-improvement by setting personal swim goals and then
achieving those goals as personal swim times in
competition improve. Participating in swim meets
is also a lot of fun!
Swim meets are comprised of multiple swim events.
The format of a meet is determined by the hosting
swim club so the availability of some events may
vary. Swimmers who want to participate, select and register for events
at the meet based on their
interests, ability, age and gender.
Meets occur over the course
of a single day or a single weekend.
Events are usually grouped into sessions for
each age group. Therefore, a swimmer will often
complete his or her events in four hours or less.
Meet Entry Fees
Entry fees are assessed to
each competing swimmer based on the events for which he
or she registers. Fees for a meet are set by the
hosting club and USA Swimming and usually run
$2.00-$4.00 per event during short course seasons
(Fall/Winter) and $3.50-$5.00 per event during long course
seasons (Summer). Most meets allow each swimmer to
compete in 3 to 5 events per day. Upon registration, Gators collects the entry fees for
all competing swimmers and sends them to the hosting
club.

Attending Additional Meets
If you would like to compete in additional meets, you may do so. Simply
check the
meets page at Indiana Swimming, and choose the
additional meets you would like to attend. If you need help
signing up for additional meets, you can email
Dawn for assistance. Please note, however, that a Gators
coach will not be available to attend the additional meets with you.
